The Force’s business office will remain in Fort
Collins and the Loveland Sports Park (near the intersection of I-25 and
U.S. Highway 34) is its home field. The name change is effective
immediately.
Pfankuch contributes to Tar Heels title North Carolina edges Notre Dame for NCAA crown
Emmalie
Pfankuch, a dynamic scoring threat for the Colorado Force F.C. in 2007
and 2008, won an NCAA soccer championship Sunday as a member of the
University of North Carolina Tar Heels. North Carolina scored a late
goal to beat Notre Dame 2-1 in Cary, N.C.
Pfankuch, a freshman
at North Carolina and a former Fort Collins High School star, saw
action in the championship game as a substitute forward. With the win,
North Carolina claimed its 19th NCAA title in the 27-year history of
the tournament. It’s Pfankuch’s second national title this year. Last
summer she was part of a U.S. Youth Soccer National Champion with the
Lakewood-based Rush Nike U-18 team.
Marshall helps U.S. U-20 National Team top North Korea, 2-1
Nikki
Marshall, a member of the Colorado Force F.C.’s 2008 squad, is coming
home to Colorado as a member of Under-20 Women’s World Champions. The
U.S. side topped North Korea 2-1 to win the Under-20 Women’s World Cup
title on Sunday in Santiago, Chile.
Marshall is Niwot
resident, who played in the midfield for the Force last summer, helped
to anchor the Americans’ defense as a central defender. Marshall
started and played the entire championship match, which was televised
nationally on ESPN2. At the conclusion of the match, the ESPN2
commentator described Marshall as a “rock” on the U.S. side’s back
line. Marshall plays collegiately at the University of Colorado.
